Welcome!

My name is Marsha McFalls and I am a 1991 graduate of South Fayette High School. I was a proud member of the Little Green Machine Marching Band as a piccolo player for one year and then as a majorette for four years; head majorette for three of those years. I also had the distinct honor of being the first and only feature twirler, to date, for the Little Green Machine during select shows throughout the season. Being a majorette opened up many opportunities for me. I went on to compete in the sport of baton twirling and trained with my coach at the world-champion Modernettes studio. I founded and twirled with the Duquesne University Twirlettes and performed at halftime at Duquesne Dukes basketball games. I also twirled with the Pride of Duquesne University Marching Band and performed at halftime at Duquesne Dukes football games. I was also a contestant and winner in several scholarship/beauty pageants. After college, I was hired as the majorette coach for the Duquesne University Marching Band and the Upper St. Clair Marching Band. I started a twirling program at several local dance studios as well as my own business, "One More Time" Baton Twirling Academy. I am also a certified baton twirling instructor through Twirling Unlimited and recently through the United States Twirling Association (USTA) as a Level 1 Coach. Recently, I became the baton twirling instructor at Legacy of Dance, in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania and also continue to offer private baton twirling lessons. My daughter, Lauren, was head majorette in the Little Green Machine and is currently a University of Pittsburgh Golden Girl. As you can see, twirling for the Little Green Machine included experiences well beyond the football field.

I have been involved in multiple South Fayette Alumni Band performances since I graduated from high school. I have had the opportunity to meet some wonderful ladies. However, I noticed that there really is not a permanent record anywhere of all of the majorettes that have had the privilege to perform in front of the band. So...this website is my attempt to accomplish this.

History:
I have researched all decades since the beginning of the band. But, as you will notice, there are many blanks. I need your help in filling in these blanks. Also check out the History of Uniforms timeline!

Pictures and Videos:
I would like to share your memories. Please send me pictures and videos to post.

Alumni Band/Majorette Information:
The South Fayette Alumni Band will be performing in the Bridgeville Memorial Day parade on Sunday, May 30, 2022. If you are interested, please email me. Do not worry if you cannot attend all practices; I will record the cadence and routine and send them to you!

I am asking anyone that was a former majorette for the following:
  • Majorette picture from the yearbook (with names included) or formal majorette picture taken during band pictures
  • Complete the Member Application (found under Members Only). This information will be kept confidential by the Board of Directors.
  • Pictures or videos of your favorite memories to post on the website; please be sure to include the year
  • A reflection on your time in band; I would love to hear how twirling with the band made a difference for you in your life. I would also love to post any thoughts that you might have for future majorettes. Words of wisdom can be inspiring!
  • Any additions/corrections/suggestions for this website

Thank you for taking the time and for your help in making this website as informative, entertaining, and memorable as possible. Please forward the website link via e-mail, social media, etc. to any former majorette that you may know so that we can accomplish the goal of completing the history of the South Fayette Majorette and maintaining this for many years to come.

Sincerely and respectfully,
~Marsha
